MIss Manners

I was reading Miss Manners' etiquette articles like this one. When I was growing up my mom used to tape her column to the fridge. It's interesting to look at Miss Manners (and etiquette experts in general) through the lens of social norms and social control. It is as though she is an expert in what social norms are, or what they should be.
